What Is the Pacific WA America 250 Event?

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the City of Pacific, Washington is hosting a free public America 250 Celebration — part of the nationwide commemoration marking 250 years since the founding of the United States. The Pacific WA America 250 event is being delivered as a LibertySeed, a speaking-format program run by volunteers from Project Appleseed and the Revolutionary War Veterans Association (RWVA).

If you’ve heard of Project Appleseed before, you may know them for their rifle-marksmanship clinics. This is not one of those. A LibertySeed is the speaking-only format — pure American history, no firearms instruction. Bring the family. Bring kids. Bring grandparents. There is no equipment to rent, no fee to pay, and no signup form to fill out.

What to Expect at the Pacific WA America 250 Celebration

This is more than a single talk. The day’s program includes a full Revolutionary-era experience built around the story of how America was actually born — not the version most of us got in seventh-grade civics. Attendees will see:

  • Reenactors in period costume and gear
  • Historical experts sharing primary-source accounts
  • Cannon demonstrations
  • Musket demonstrations
  • A chance to sign your own name on the Declaration of Independence
  • The Project Appleseed volunteers’ signature talk on “The Three Strikes” and “The Day the Shot Was Heard ‘Round the World”

The cannon and musket demonstrations are exactly that — demonstrations, not instruction. Visitors observe; they do not handle weapons. This makes the event family-friendly and accessible to people of every age.

The Story Behind April 19, 1775

The Pacific WA America 250 program is anchored to a single date: April 19, 1775 — the day the American Revolutionary War began at Lexington and Concord. Project Appleseed volunteers describe this as the day “that forever changed the course of our Nation.”

Why does that date matter? And who were the people actually standing on the green that morning? The answers aren’t the textbook version. The Project Appleseed volunteers tell the story of the Three Strikes — three pivotal moments inside the larger story of April 19, 1775 — in a format the RWVA has refined over more than two decades of presenting in communities across the country.

The Pacific WA America 250 LibertySeed is your chance to hear that story told the way it was meant to be told: not as memorized dates and battlefield names, but as a story about ordinary citizens who made an extraordinary decision.

Who Is Project Appleseed?

Project Appleseed is the public-education program of the Revolutionary War Veterans Association, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The organization runs two formats nationwide:

  1. Appleseed shoots — weekend marksmanship clinics that combine historical instruction with rifle skill-building.
  2. LibertySeeds — speaking-only events focused exclusively on American Revolutionary history.

The Pacific WA America 250 event is a LibertySeed, meaning it is the speaking-only format. The volunteers are passionate amateur historians who deliver this content for free, in their own time, because they believe Americans should know the actual story of how the country began.

Why This Event Matters in 2026

2026 marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence — the Semiquincentennial, or “America 250.” Communities across the country are hosting events throughout 2026 to mark the occasion. The Pacific WA America 250 LibertySeed is one of the only Pacific Northwest events combining the formal America 250 commemoration with the Project Appleseed historical-education tradition.

Pacific is a small city in Pierce and King Counties. Hosting a free, open-to-the-public America 250 celebration here — rather than in a major metro venue with paid admission — keeps the event accessible to families across the South Sound region.

How to Attend the Pacific WA America 250 Celebration

It’s the easiest event registration in America. There isn’t one.

  • Show up at 305 Milwaukee Blvd S, Pacific, WA on Saturday, May 2, 2026
  • Bring your family
  • Bring a folding chair if you want comfortable seating
  • Bring a phone or camera — the cannon demonstration alone is worth the photo

The event is free. No tickets, no RSVP, no donations required. Just show up.
